Q :

How do I know if I may be a good candidate for laser arthroscopic percutaneous diskectomy?

A : History and physical, examination, x-rays, and magnetic resonance imaging will usually tell whether someone is a good candidate for laser arthroscopic percutaneous diskectomy. Usually someone with a small to medium sized partially herniated disk which is completely contained within the annular ligament makes the best candidate. When the disk is completely extruded beyond the confines of the annular ligament of the spine, this procedure is not useful.

Q : How can I get more information about laser arthroscopic percutaneous diskectomy?
A : Each individual presents special problems and considerations, and it is probably necessary to have an office visit and consultation with the physician to determine whether or not one might be a good candidate for laser arthroscopic percutaneous diskectomy.
